If you manage to stumble across anything more unique than this singularly lyric-driven bass/vocal duet from Talibah Safiya then you’re lying. The funky bass riff that underpins the entirety of ‘Imagine That’ could come straight out of a Level 42 track, while the vocal performance tells a “tale about the effect of an alluring woman on an unassuming man”. Talibah Safiya has a long back catalogue of more standard tracks such as ‘Evolutionary’ with its jazzy piano, or the more pop-based ‘Middle Of The Night’, but none give off the same raw energy and innovation as ‘Imagine That’. -Dan Peeke
